OVERVIEW

This professional development refresher workshop is designed for those who hold a qualification in Pathology Collection.

The aim is to refresh your skills and knowledge, bringing you in line with current standards and procedures and is ideally suited for those students who completed the qualification but have not entered the workforce as a pathology collector.

This refresher workshop is exclusive to All Health Training and is the only one of it’s kind in Australia!

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entry requirements if completing placement option:
- Current (within 12 months) Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (Police Check)
- Current Hepatitis B Immunisation
- Current years flu immunisation
- WWC Card (volunteer or employer)
Availability to attend placement in a week block (Monday to Friday)

FEES
- Option 1: Course refresher workshop + 4x weekly bleed sessions – $600.00
- Option 2: Course refresher workshop + 4x weekly bleed sessions + 35 hours of practical placement – $1,150.00

This 2-day workshop covers the following:.
- Pre-assessment workbook prior to attending
- Practical demonstration & 1:1 observation of the 3 types of venepuncture – Needle & Syringe, Vacutainer & Butterfly
- 4 x weekly bleed sessions where the student brings a “patient” to continue to practise and build confidence their skills in the simulated environment.
- Updates to Standard Operating Procedures within the industry
- Current first aid practices in the workplace
- Information on “Prepare, receive and dispatch” practices
- Up to date hand hygiene and infection control practices
- Information on applying for jobs and current interview processes
- Practical placement within a pathology collection centre (If Option 2 is chosen)
Delivery
WORKSHOP DELIVERY
- Option 1: Classroom delivery from 9.00am – 4.30pm over two days. Included in the fee is 4 x weekly bleed sessions where the student brings a “patient” to continue to practise and build confidence their skills in the simulated environment.
- Option 2: Classroom delivery from 9.00am – 4.30pm over two days plus 35 hours of consecutive work placement at Monash Health as arranged by AHT. Included in the fee is 4 x weekly bleed sessions where the student brings a “patient” to continue to practise and build confidence their skills in the simulated environment.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
- As part of the refresher workshop your skills and knowledge are required to be deemed satisfactory in order to commence placement (If Option 2 has been chosen), otherwise you will not be able to go on to commence placemenT.
- You must attend both days of the refresher workshop, otherwise you will not be able to commence placement (If this Option 2 has been chosen). If not, your fees will be forfeited and you will need to reapply and pay the fees for the next refresher workshop.
- Should you require additional practical skills after the two day workshop, you have the opportunity to book 30 minutes 1:1 with an industry expert and conduct live bleeds, bringing along a “patient” for the session at a cost of $25.00.
Completion
COMPLETION

Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to confidently demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and will receive a Statement of Attendance for Professional Development within 10 business days. Please note, this is not a nationally recognised training course and no units of competency are being assessed.
