Program Requirements
To thrive in our Flexible Learning Program, you should:
- Be self-motivated and committed to self-paced study.
- Possess basic digital literacy, with access to a computer and the internet.
- Attend mandatory practical sessions at our Blackburn campus as required by your chosen qualification.
- Demonstrate consistent progress throughout the course.

How the Flexible Learning Program Works
- Application: Apply online and engage in an initial discussion with our team to determine if flexible learning aligns with your goals.
- Enrolment: Upon successful enrolment, you’ll receive access to AHT Online (via aNewSpring) for assessments and resources.
- Assessment: Complete assessments within designated timeframes, maintaining regular communication with your trainer.
- Practical Sessions: Attend scheduled practical sessions at our Blackburn campus to practice and be assessed in a simulated work environment.
Rest assured, the quality standards All Health Training is known for are not compromised. Practical sessions are held with our trainers to demonstrate, practice, and assess your skills in a simulated work environment.
Common Misconceptions
Flexible learning is designed to accommodate your schedule but does not shorten the course duration or reduce the training quality. While online study replaces weekly classes, attendance at practical sessions in Blackburn remains essential.
Realistic Timeframes
On average, completing a qualification, including practical placement, takes:
- 9–12 months for Individual Support (Ageing and Disability), Ageing Support, and Disability Support.
- 9–18 months for Health Services Assistance.
Practical Placement
Pre-Placement Criteria
Before commencing practical placement, ensure you have:
- Submitted all required documents (e.g., immunisation evidence, police check, working with children check etc.).
- Completed all theory assessments successfully.
- Attended the necessary practical assessment sessions.
Typically, flexible learning students complete their placements at the end of the course.
Practical Placement Details
- Duration: 80–120 hours, depending on the course.
- Arrangement: AHT coordinates placements in consultation with industry partners.
- Scheduling: Placements are usually full-time blocks; plan accordingly to accommodate work and family commitments.
- Availability: Placements are not scheduled during December and January due to industry constraints.
- Uniform: Wear an All Health Training polo shirt and name badge (provided), along with long black pants and black closed-in, non-slip shoes.
Already Working in Industry?
If you’re employed in the sector relevant to your qualification (e.g., a disability support worker pursuing a Certificate III in Individual Support – Disability), discuss with our team the possibility of using your current workplace to fulfill placement requirements.
