Most people who live in aged care homes, assisted living or disability homes take medicines. Many take a number of different medicines for different health conditions. Medications, whilst making a significant contribution to the treatment of ill health, the prevention of disease, and improvement of health outcomes have
the potential to cause harm. Staff must have an understanding of the importance of medication distribution. The quality use of medicines reduces the risk of unwanted effects or errors and can improve the Resident’s health and quality of life.
