Competency is assessed through a combination of practical application and demonstration of skills, research, analysis and completion of competency based workbooks.
As participants are already employed as pathology collectors, there is no vocational placement requirement for this pathway. Instead, students will complete workplace-based assessments supported by a third-party report from their supervisor or manager, confirming their competency in the workplace. Supporting evidence, including recent payslips, a position description and a current CV, is also required to verify industry experience. This assessment approach recognises the skills students have already developed through their employment.
If students have already successfully completed unit/s of competency which are included within the qualification AHT offers, credit may be granted.
Competencies gained through other formal study or experience may be acknowledged through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
Students are expected to complete assessments outside of class time—approximately 6 to 10 hours per week, depending on their existing knowledge. You’ll need access to a computer, tablet or smartphone with internet to complete these assessments and resources via AHT Online. Access will be provided at the start of your course.
Government Funding for 2026
From 2026, the Victorian State Government, through the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR), has significantly reduced training funding for many private Registered Training Organisations. As a result, government-funded places are not available at All Health Training, and enrolments are offered on a fee-for-service basis.
