What a year 2020 has been! One that we will never forget, that is for sure.

There is a quote that “calm seas never made a good sailor”. 2020 has been a test for everyone, and the seas have been anything but calm! I always find that the end of any year is a great time for self-reflection, both personally and professionally. As we prepare to close the office for our well deserved Christmas break, I wanted to share some of what the team at All Health Training have achieved in 2020!
We started 2020 with great demand across all our qualifications but is was shortly after that COVID19 impacted Australia, and in particular, Victoria. We pivoted to Virtual classes through the Microsoft Teams platform during both Covid lockdowns and both students and trainers adapted incredibly well to the new technology. We love face-to-face training and learning in the simulation environment which will remain the cornerstone of our training, but COVID19 taught us that anything is possible to achieve if you have the desire to do so! And our trainers desire was strong and their commitment to continue to teach our students never wavered.
Industry across the board cancelled all practical placements in March as they focused on their business and their own staff and patients/residents/participants/clients. It was difficult to know how this would play out, but it has shown us the strength of our industry relationships and how much they value our training when the phone started to ring to organise placements again! We heard repeatedly that this was not an offer they were making to all training providers, but were being very selective which was heartwarming to hear.
We were grateful that our business continued to train students and health/community workers when so many other businesses and individuals were affected by COVID19.
We have always believed that education can change an individual’s pathway and in 2020 this has never been more true. Students have shared their experiences with us as they look to retrain and move into the health and community sector, a sector that will always be in demand, even amidst a global pandemic. Students have been securing roles across all the sectors we train in, which is so rewarding to hear and was often in stark contrast to their journey before coming to AHT. It is gratifying to know that our training has impacted on so many peoples lives.
Simon & I are a husband and wife team, but I have always said that AHT is my “office family”. It is made up of an administration team, trainers & management who all strive for the same outcome – great student outcomes. Sounds simple, but managing a business with many moving parts and a team who must to work in unison to achieve the company goals is hard to do when we were working remotely! Being apart from my team made me appreciate how good it feels to work together!
We feel very optimistic about 2021. It will see our head office move to new office space nearby at Blackburn and expand our training space at our current Blackburn campus. We will have new Skillsets and short courses to offer students. Our industry connections are great & our team is strong and growing. The state and federal government are investing in training individuals affected by COVID19 and into sectors with strong job prospects, which is all the qualifications that AHT offer. We are well placed to assist more students in 2021 than at any other time.
We hope that everyone has time to slow down over summer, whether for just a couple of days or for a couple of weeks, to pause and reflect on their past year and what they have overcome & achieved. We hope that you feel gratitude for your family, friends, co-students and work colleagues who have supported you through what can only be called a challenging year. I trust they feel the same gratitude to you.
To my family, friends and work colleagues, I thank you for supporting me through every year, but especially 2020!
Merry Christmas!
