This qualification is designed for individuals working in community, home, or residential care settings. They operate within a multi-disciplinary team, under supervision and delegation. Their primary role is to deliver personalised support to individuals who may need assistance due to factors such as aging, disability, or other reasons.
Some tasks may include: Assistance with Personal Hygiene, Dressing and Undressing, Mobility Support, Meal Preparation and Feeding, Monitoring Vital Signs, Emotional and Social Support, Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), Cleaning, Housekeeping and End-of-Life Care.

Competency is assessed through a combination of practical application and demonstration of skills, research, analysis and completion of competency based workbooks.
Please note, employers request all students complete HLTAID011 Provide First Aid when applying for roles within industry. We offer this unit of competency to our CHC33021 Cert III Individual Support (Ageing) students at a 50% discount rate of $50 which can be conducted at any of our public courses.
Practical placement of 120 hours is a mandatory requirement of this course. All Health Training will organise on our students behalf.
If students have already successfully completed unit/s of competency which are included within the qualification AHT offers, credit may be granted.
Competencies gained through other formal study or experience may be acknowledged through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process.
Students are expected to undertake continual engagement. You’ll need access to a computer, tablet or smartphone with internet to complete these assessments and resources via AHT Online. Access will be provided at the start of your course.
Government Funding for 2026
From 2026, the Victorian State Government, through the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR), has significantly reduced training funding for many private Registered Training Organisations. As a result, government-funded places are not available at All Health Training, and enrolments are offered on a fee-for-service basis.

The Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) prepares you for a rewarding career as a Disability Support Worker. You can choose from two study options: flexible self-paced learning, or blended learning: a combination of online and classroom-based training. The Certificate III in Pathology Collection prepares you for work as a Pathology Collector. This course is delivered through blended learning: a combination of online study and classroom-based training: offering both flexibility and hands-on experience to support your success.
