This workshop supports staff working in the community & health sector to identify signs of abuse and take action according to their role and responsibility to minimise the risk of abuse to a person.
The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability was established on 5 April 2019. The National Disability Services supports the commission which identified 1 in 3 complaints made were related to abuse.
The Aged Care Quality Standards are a governing framework to define the level of care that aged care providers must ensure including Standard 8 (3) ii) identifying and responding to abuse and neglect of consumers. The Australian Institute of Health & Wellbeing’s 2019 survey indicated 51% women and 49% men over the age of 55 have experienced abuse.

This workshop is delivered in the classroom over a three (3) hour duration.
Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to confidently demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and will receive a Statement of Attendance for Professional Development within 10 business days.
