HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation



This nationally recognised course is for all workers who may be required to provide CPR in a range of community and workplace settings.There are no pre-requisites for this course except for the candidate’s capacity to apply oral communication skills to effectively make an accurate verbal report to emergency response services and workplace supervisor.

Participants will need to participate in physical tasks and will be required to kneel on the floor to allow assessment as stipulated by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC). Participants will need to wear appropriate attire to allow movement on the floor.

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines until the arrival of medical or other assistance and utilizes training with adult and infant manikins. It is a competency that satisfies employer obligations for the ‘WorkSafe Compliance Code -First Aid in the Workplace’ including “having appropriate first aid measures in place, including first aid kits and suitably trained first aid officers”.

Validity & Duration

Length of Validity

The accreditation of this competency is valid for one (1) year from the date of issue. The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recommends that you renew this qualification annually from the date of issue.

Course Duration

All Health Training has developed a two (2) hour workshop for delivery of the course and can be delivered in your workplace by arrangement or at one of our training facilities through public courses Blackburn, Narre Warren, Mornington or Preston. Delivery is contextualised according to your Industry setting. Preferred class size is 10 persons with a maximum of 14 persons per workshop.

Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training workshop consists of a practical assessment and delivery, where First Aid skills and knowledge are assessed.

You will gain a Working Knowledge of:

  • conducting a hazard assessment and identifying strategies to minimise risk
  • demonstrating safe manual handling techniques
  • assessing airway, breathing and responsiveness of casualty
  • performing at least four minutes of uninterrupted CPR on both an adult and an infant resuscitation manikin placed on the floor, demonstrating the learned  techniques
  • following the prompts of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • providing an accurate verbal report of the incident
  • responding to at least one simulated resuscitation scenario contextualised to the candidate’s workplace/community setting



On successful completion of the training workshop each participant will receive a:
